Main streets across America joining the national rollout of mobile marketing app, distrx
New App Taking the Guesswork Out of Local District Exploration
ORLANDO, FL – A new mobile marketing app directing users to main street businesses is excited to announce its national rollout. distrx is an innovative experience and event exploration, proximity-based app, connecting visitors, and even regulars, to shops, restaurants, special events and exclusive offers in local districts. It’s the equivalent of having a personal mobile tour guide.
The app is free and available to download on the Apple App Store or Google Play. Using a combination of GPS and beacon technology, users entering participating districts receive a welcome greeting and event listings, then they receive exclusive promotions and deals, as they enter participating merchants, directly to their mobile device, allowing them to be a local wherever they go.
“We developed distrx as a way for small businesses to use technology to reach mobile consumers who love to shop local,” says distrx Co-Founder and CEO Chris Cook. “We also wanted to provide a national platform for these local districts to share their unique story. One app, endless possibilities in all main street shopping, and arts and entertainment districts across the country; that’s our goal.”
The decision to launch the platform nationwide followed a large-scale beta test earlier this year and input from district directors, merchants and app users. distrx’s mobile marketing community currently includes 15 districts across 7 states with more than 400 local merchants.
distrx is getting rave reviews from participating merchants, including those participating in the recent Mills 50, “Mills 50 Madcap” event in Orlando. 26 teams of competitors gathered for the scavenger hunt and pub crawl and they used the distrx app to unlock clues, directing them to more than a dozen locations within Mills 50.
Hurst Marshall, owner of The Guesthouse, says, “It was a great event! We probably had a 20% bump in business.” And Curtis Carswell, owner of The Great Escape Frame & Art, says, “Numerous people came into the store who had never been here before. Several have returned to have items framed. Very happy with the event.”
