Debbie Gibson on Oscar Shortlist

Congrats to Buzz Entertainment Public Relations (PR) client Debbie Gibson on being recognized by the Academy for Best Original Song! Gibson’s song “Rise,” from the motion picture “3 Billion and Counting,” is on the Oscar shortlist. The film, by Dr. Rutledge about Malaria prevention in third word countries, marks Gibson’s debut in the world of orchestration. She collaborated on the score as well as wrote and performed the Oscar shortlisted song.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will officially announce the nominations in the Original Song category for the 83rd Academy Awards live on Tuesday, January 25. For a complete list of the 41 songs in contention, read the press release. Tomorrow, January 6, the Academy will screen clips featuring each song for voting members of the Music Branch in Los Angeles. For members unable to attend or request home viewing, a DVD copy of the song clips are provided with a mail-in ballot. The Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, live on ABC.
